Alright, now this I've seriously been won over!

Okay, so you know I love Coconut Bliss ice cream...but...now I've found the perfect dairy-free treat. Rich and creamy, and oh so guiltless.  I cannot tell you how excited I get when I discover new products: So Delicious NO ADDED SUGAR vanilla ice cream!!!  It has one gram of sugar...which I'm guessing is naturally occurring in the coconut milk?  It is heavenly.  What's even better...there are only 100 calories in a serving!  Thank you to the lovely humans who come up with this stuff.  I truly adore you.

Skinny Biotch

Recently I came across a book called "Skinny Bitch," umm...ADORE.  So it may be a little crude, but I rather enjoy a good insult every now and then, especially when it comes to people's eating habits.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend you do.

I cannot tell you how passionate I am about people becoming informed about what they are consuming.  The whole "sugar-free" and "low-fat" fads are not only detrimental to a persons health, they make people FAT!  Being that I am so passionate about this, I wanted to dedicate a post to not only recommend a good book, but share a link that may open some eyes.  With a loving heart I ask you to please stop eating foods with artificial sweeteners, here's why:

Coffee. The black goddess in a cup.

I love coffee.  Not necessarily the way I feel (like the most cheerful, motivated woman on earth the minute the caffeine kicks in), but that bold, nutty taste.  That warmth and comfort of toastiness, blended with a rich flavored creamer, a.k.a. total overload of chemicals and crap.  Coffee and I have a great relationship, but I can't always justify the creamer.  It's beyond terrible for the body, as well as the waistline.  So I have a rebound for when I want to treat my body right, Dandy Blend.  It is an instant herbal drink chocked full of dandelion, chicory root, and beetroot.  It's taste mimics coffee enough to satisfy me.  The great part is, it's free of pesticides, acidity and caffeine.  It's healthy, and at 5 calories per serving, I'll take it!

A great product that makes this even more coffee-like, is So Delicious brand coconut milk creamer.  They have three flavors: Original, French Vanilla, and Hazelnut.  "So" yummy.  Silk brand makes flavored creamers too.  I try and avoid soy products, but not all stores carry the So Delicious creamers.  If I do splurge on the soy, I like the french vanilla.

Necesseties

In my experience with healthy eating, I have found a list of foods that I like to call my necessities.  I keep these on hand at all times...they are what I lean on to make my "staple" meals and snacks.

Raw Almonds- the best snack, especially when I'm running out the door

Almond Milk- I buy the unsweetened vanilla and the regular vanilla

Just Great Stuff brand, Organic Powdered Peanut Butter

Raw Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil- I use it for everything...it's SO good for you

Organic Canned Coconut Milk (full fat)

Unsweetened Shredded Coconut

Bob's Redmill GF Quick Cooking Oats

Unpasteurized Raw Honey- my main sweetener, I use it daily

Organic Green Tea- thank God for this, there are tons of health benefits

Frozen Berries- for the daily protein smoothie

Frozen Veggie Mix- I buy the broccoli, cauliflower, carrot mix...yes fresh is always best, but I keep this on hand for when I'm in a pinch

Bananas

Organic Fuji or Braeburn Apples

Sweet Potatoes (not Yams)

Onions

Bell Peppers

Zucchini

Carrots

Beets

Garlic

I literally buy these items in bulk.  There are so many alternatives to crappy processed flours, sugars...foods in general, it's amazing.  Again, these are just my necessities, I buy a much wider range of foods to go along with these things.
